These are the taglines used by
Marquette
University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Two of
Marquette's alumni, Jim and Jane Strenski,
have embodied this message for their entire
lifetimes.
Their dedication to each
other is clearly evident
in their 53-year marriage and in the gentle
touches that accompany their conversation.
The
relationship with the Community
Foundation of Tampa Bay began many years
ago with a social introduction to George and
Debbie Baxter, the Foundation's founding
president and public information director,
respectively.
"We learned that the
Foundation made giving to several
organization's easy, and that Jane
and I could play a role in how the
grants would be distributed.
It was also preferable to a private
foundation, and it was and is very
financially efficient," explains
Jim.
Jim and Jane
are also members of the Foundation's
Legacy Society, which means that
they informed us that they have
included the Foundation in their
will. By doing so, they will
leave a legacy of generosity for the
organizations that they have cared
about and supported in their
lifetimes.
There is
family value in the Strenski
household of being of service to
others. You can see the
difference this value has made in
the five Strenski children and the
twelve grandchildren. They are
spread across the country, but,
wherever they are, their communities
are richer, as is the Tampa Bay
area, because of the difference Jim
and Jane have decided to be.
