An entrepreneur and a philanthropist, Fred Fisher is both -- in the superlative. He was a founder of U.S. Home Corporation and served as Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer until his retirement in 1980. In 1985 he endowed the Fisher School of Accounting at the University of Florida. He and Aleta care deeply about youth and support The Long Center, Phoenix House, Ruth Eckerd Hall, Homeless Emergency Project, and Clearwater for Youth, to name a few.
The family chose the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay to administer their charitable funds because The Foundation can accomplish the same thing as a private foundation without the expense and hassle. We know our wishes will be honored in perpetuity. And "the four children will be involved with the grant making after we are gone."
Pictured with Fred and Aleta are his two daughters, Paige Simpson and Jill Powers. "My Dad is someone to live up to. He has good values and does the right thing," said Jill. Paige believes, "Our Donor Advised Fund in the Community Foundation will forever honor our father and the family's tradition of giving."
