Donor Stories | Legacy Society: Sponsors of an enduring tomorrow

Mrs. Shirley Solomon

Long time Tampa resident, Mrs. Shirley Solomon is never one to sit still for long. Every week you’ll find her playing duplicate bridge, having earned the prestigious rank of Silver Life Master, or getting in her regular workouts at the gym.

Her community involvement has kept her just as busy. Over the years, her volunteer work has included being an advocate with the Guardian ad Litem program, providing administrative support for many years at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and assignments at Menorah Manor.

The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay acknowledges her as a valued and generous Tampa resident who continues to support a number of local organizations. As a member of our Legacy Society, Mrs. Solomon has left a planned gift to benefit the Straz Center for the Performing Arts through her gift annuity.

Gift annuities are just one of the ways our donors make contributions through the Community Foundation to the organizations they value. In addition to knowing that her gift will continue to support the Straz Center after her passing, Mrs. Solomon is able to take advantage of an interest rate that is far superior to those found with CDs, and she rests easy knowing her income is guaranteed by the Foundation.

“I am pleased to be involved with the Community Foundation in this way, to receive income for the rest of my life and still be able to contribute to a worthy organization,” says Mrs. Solomon.

Four generations of Solomon family members have enjoyed performances and, more recently, learning opportunities offered by the Straz Center.  That will continue to be true for generations to come, thanks in part to the vision and generosity of Shirley Solomon.
