Jane
and Jerry Williams have called Tampa home since 1957. Together they
founded Williams Securities Group, and Jerry served as chairman for
23 years.
As they built their life in their new hometown, the Williams also gave back to their community. Jerry served as chairman of the United Way in 1992 and as chairman of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay from 1997 to 1999. Jane says, We feel blessed by our life here in Tampa, and we want to give back to this community we love."
Jane and
Jerry support organizations that are meaningful to them. The University
of South Florida, WEDU, WUSF, the United Way, the Tampa Bay Performing
Arts Center, and the Tampa Bay History Center Museum all have benefited
from their generosity.
The Williams have established a fund within the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay that will be advised by their three children after they are gone. Jerry explained, "We wanted to provide something for the future and the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay is the ideal way to do that. Twenty-five years from now the citizens in the Tampa Bay area will be astounded at what this Community Foundation has accomplished."
