What a privilege it is to work with you, our donors, as you plan your charitable giving. Bill Gates commented that “effective philanthropy requires a lot of time and creativity – the same kind of focus and skills that building a business require.” By partnering with us, you take advantage of our focus, creativity and skills, save some of your precious time and still enjoy the fun of giving.
We have so many examples of ways we have recently partnered with many of you to enhance your philanthropy. Here are just a couple:
A WWII Veteran issued a challenge to Southeastern Guide Dogs to raise money for its Paws for Patriots program, which provides dogs for veterans for companionship and emotional support in the home. I reached out to some of our donors who had served our country and given to Southeastern Guide Dogs in the past. Three of them made generous grants that were matched, dollar for dollar, by this challenge. They were so excited to have their gifts doubled, ensuring more veterans receive these incredible dogs.
In another case, we learned that a couple who give through us was struggling to find the best way to advance financial literacy and provide micro-loans to migrant workers. We introduced them to another donor who had started Project Prosper, a nonprofit that provides these same services. Because we were able to connect these wonderful people, Project Prosper has now expanded into the couple’s community. He is engaging his Rotary colleagues to offer training and she is advocating within the public school system to expand its curriculum, helping more citizens become financially literate and self-sufficient.
The array and depth of needs in our community is as diverse as you all are, but together, we make a collective difference. Thank you for your trust. We are honored to steward your resources and eager to join you in making your philanthropy most effective.
As always, you are welcome to call me with any questions (813.609.4857). I look forward to connecting with you, too!
