Community foundations
started in Cleveland,
Ohio in 1914. Spreading
rapidly in the 1920s and
1930s, there are more
than 700 today in the
United States and 17
foreign countries.
Community foundations
came late to Florida,
starting in the 1960s
and growing quickly in
the 1970s.
Starting in
1990, the Community
Foundation of Tampa Bay
is a late but fast
growing entry.
We administer endowment funds for our
donors to support the
charitable needs of the
Tampa Bay area.
