An informational evening at the Wittners'

The Community Foundation of Greater St. Petersburg hosted an informational evening at the home of Jean and Ted Wittner on Nov. 8, 2006 to provide an overview of the Foundation and its impact on the St. Petersburg community. There were 56 guests in attendance including board and council members, spouses, and staff.

Speakers included Cooper Dawson, principal of the 74th Street School in St. Petersburg, who told of the benefits she has received from attending the Leadership Development Institute program at Eckerd College, and the impact her new skills have had on her ability to lead her teachers, students, and parents.

She was also able to address the impact of the grant her school recently received from the Community Foundation of Greater St. Petersburg to fund their "Love and Logic" program. Outcomes included a reduction in classroom referrals for student behavior, increased student attendance, and more parental involvement.

The benefits of working with the Community Foundation as a donor were highlighted by Bud Risser, St. Petersburg council treasurer.
