Celebrating Kory Burkley as a 2026 CFO of the Year Honoree

Community Foundation Tampa Bay is proud to share that Kory Burkley, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has been named a 2026 CFO of the Year honoree by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. This recognition reflects Kory’s thoughtful leadership and his role in guiding the Foundation through a period of transformational growth while upholding strong standards of financial stewardship and accountability.

Since joining the Foundation in 2017, Kory has helped support growth from approximately $180 million in assets to more than $1.1 billion across over 1,400 charitable funds. Throughout this expansion, he has strengthened the financial systems, governance practices, and internal controls that ensure donor resources are managed responsibly and transparently.

“Kory’s leadership is invaluable to our organization and to the trust our community places in our work,” said Marlene Spalten, President and CEO of Community Foundation Tampa Bay. “He brings a thoughtful, disciplined approach and helps ensure the Foundation remains financially strong and worthy of the confidence placed in us by our donors and partners.”

Kory has also led the implementation of tools such as the Financial Investment Dashboard to improve efficiency and consistency, while supporting a finance team that has maintained a strong record of clean audits. His work helps ensure the Foundation operates with clarity and stability, allowing philanthropic dollars to move thoughtfully into the community and support the causes that matter most to our fundholders and partners.

The CFO of the Year awards recognize financial leaders across the Tampa Bay region who demonstrate excellence in leadership, performance, and community impact.
