The second episode of our Inspired Giving podcast is a conversation with Michael Jalazo, executive director of the Pinellas Ex-Offender Re-Entry Coalition. PERC was awarded our $50,000 Big Idea grant last year, which provided the start-up funds for the Second Chance Tiny House Corporation. Ex-offenders train as construction workers while building tiny houses. The first dwellings will go to homeless veterans, but there are plans to spread the tiny houses across St. Petersburg and Pinellas County to replace aging mobile homes and to eventually sell them to private citizens to finance PERC’s programs.
