Habitat for Humanity Florida

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity builds homes, communities, and hope. Habitat for Humanity of Florida is an Affiliate Support Organization (ASO) that supports the work of 48 Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the state through advocacy work, communication and education, and providing resources, such as training and technical assistance to help affiliates build capacity –and more homes!

Our newest offering is the Disaster Resilience Program. We aim to equip affiliates across the state to better prepare themselves and their communities for natural disasters, such as hurricanes, which we know are an inevitability here in Florida. Right now, our program focuses on providing resources to help affiliates prepare as well as coordinating statewide response efforts after large storms. One of our goals for this program is to house a mobile response unit, with fully equipped vans, staffed with AmeriCorps Members, that could travel where help is needed most after disaster strikes. During blue skies, AmeriCorps Members would be housed at Habitat affiliates across the state, learning the basics of construction, and creating a potential employee pipeline in a currently understaffed field.
