These accolades celebrate her exceptional leadership and the incredible growth she has driven at the Foundation.
Since joining the Foundation in 2012, Marlene has led it to become the largest community foundation in Florida and one of the largest in the nation, managing over 1,300 charitable funds with nearly $1 billion in assets. This growth has allowed the Foundation to significantly expand its philanthropic reach, supporting critical areas such as education, healthcare, and disaster recovery. Following Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, the Foundation swiftly mobilized resources, distributing over $5 million in relief efforts.
Marlene’s career in philanthropy is defined by her ability to build relationships and drive strategic giving. Before joining the Foundation, she led fundraising initiatives at Baptist Health Foundation, raising $100 million in eight years, and at The Bolles School, where she secured $26.8 million in a capital campaign. Her expertise has strengthened the Foundation’s role as a trusted partner for philanthropists and nonprofits alike.
Her contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including the Paul L. Whiting, Sr. Service Award and the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council Women of Distinction Award. She has also championed innovative giving models, strengthened cross-sector partnerships, and enhanced donor engagement, ensuring that philanthropy in Tampa Bay remains impactful and forward-thinking.
