Community Foundation Tampa Bay has reached a landmark achievement, surpassing $1 billion in committed philanthropic funds. This milestone, reached as CFTB celebrates its 35th anniversary, is a testament to the foundation’s vision, leadership, and the growing generosity of the Tampa Bay community.
A Culture of Giving
The ambitious benchmark was set by Chairman Oscar Horton upon his appointment in 2023, and within two years, Community Foundation Tampa Bay added enough in new commitments to reach the goal.
The Community Foundation’s President and CEO Marlene Spalten emphasized to the Tampa Bay Business Journal that the organization’s success is the result of a growing philanthropic culture in our region.
“Increasingly, people are viewing philanthropy as part of their life, as part of what they do,” Spalten said.
This cultural shift is transforming philanthropy from an exclusive activity of the ultra-wealthy into a more inclusive and accessible part of life in Tampa Bay, partially thanks to the Community Foundation.
“By making it easier to give, we have seen a whole new group of people enter the philanthropic world,” she added. “Over the years, it has become more and more mainstream.”
