Competitive Grant Awards: Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing

Community Foundation Tampa Bay awarded over $2.2 million through the 2025 Competitive Grants Process. This funding will support 84 impactful nonprofit projects across the Tampa Bay region.

Competitive Grant Awards: Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing

Physical Health and Mental Well-being are critical pillars within the five focus areas of Community Foundation Tampa Bay's competitive grant awards. Ensuring access to basic health resources, particularly for children, seniors, and vulnerable populations, is an important goal for the Community Foundation and its fundholders. Mental wellness is equally essential. By supporting programs that foster mental resilience, we aim to build a community where every individual can:

  • Realize their full potential
  • Cope with life’s everyday stresses
  • Work productively
  • Contribute meaningfully to society

2025 Awards

This year, we proudly awarded more than $710,904 across three targeted subcategories within Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing:

  • Basic Needs: $265,690
  • Health and Wellness: $287,999.44
  • Mental Health and Trauma Services: $157,215

Together, these investments support a range of innovative programs addressing the various health-related needs of our community. Here are just a few examples:

Reach St. Pete

  • Project: Mobile Grocery Store Bus
  • Award: $25,000
  • Summary: Proudly serving as Florida’s only free, full-service Mobile Grocery Store, Reach St. Pete is expanding its reach across Pinellas County thanks to Community Foundation funding. This innovative model brings fresh, nutritious food directly to families experiencing food insecurity, bringing access to food deserts and communities with limited transportation. Grant funds will help expand operations, restock relevant groceries, and increase community outreach, promoting long-term health outcomes.

Lions World Vision Institute

  • Project: Lions World Pediatric Vision Health and Literacy for Tampa Bay
  • Award: $50,000
  • Summary: The Lions World Pediatric Vision Health & Literacy for Tampa Bay combines LWVI’s mobile vision screening program with pediatric-focused eye health education, providing age-appropriate materials in English and Spanish for children, families, and teachers.

Friends of Joshua House Foundation, Inc.

  • Project: Therapeutic Life Enrichment Programing for abused, abandoned, and neglected children and teens
  • Award: $20,000
  • Summary: This program provides a professionally staffed residential home for vulnerable foster children facing complex traumas, offering therapy, enrichment, academic support, and mentoring. By integrating Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) into all services, children receive structured, wrap-around support, including individual and group therapy, coping skill development, and multi-sensory interventions, to improve emotional well-being and overall stability.
